It was taking-up significant amounts of time for Atkins to satisfy requests for Ordnance Survey (OS) data.
The team used FME Server to successfully automate the whole of their data request process. This included the processing of the data and the creation of an online ordering system. Within minutes of a request being received, the system now sends an email to the requester with a link to download the data in the format required.
The time saved by automating this process freed up the team to do even more valuable GIS analysis work.
Atkins needed to build an interactive web-mapping solution to assist in the development of national and regional marine planning for its client. The tool needed to allow users to view different types of information overlaid on a map of Scotland’s territorial waters.
Atkins used an FME Server engine to power the online tool, also allowing administrators to upload new data to the organisations’ GIS database, and automate all future updates to the datasets.
The use of FME Server saved the team 40% in effort and time.
